Safety Thinking Design

For many years, Husqvarna has been at the forefront when it comes to developing solutions that reduce the risk of injuries, when working with power machines.

Even if knowledge, good judgement and correct working methods are important prerequisites for getting a job done efficiently and safely, it's just as essential that the tool itself has well-considered safety features.

Mechanically and inertia-activated chain brake

An early example of our attention to safety is the chain brake on our chain saws, which is activated both mechanically and by way of inertia. If the saw should kick back and the bar move upwards quickly, the chain brake can be activated when the user's left wrist contacts the kick back protection. Alternatively, the inherent force of the kickback can activate the chain brake.

Protective trousers

Husqvarna's new Pro Light protective trousers are another example of our developments in safety. Our objective was to combine an efficient saw protection for today's high chain speeds with low weight and good ventilation. The result was Pro Light, which meets the requirements of Class 2 (chain speed up to 24 m/s) and is about 15% lighter than conventional saw protection trousers.

Protective clothing

At Husqvarna, our ambition is to create a safer and better working environment from the user’s perspective. To us, ergonomy is closely related to safety, since protective clothing that is easy and practical to work with is more likely to be used. That's why we continuously develop our own protective clothing and work wear. From head to foot.

Safety instructions and dealers with knowledge

If you are a pro, you know how to avoid the hazards involved in your work. But who will tell you how to handle your first new mower in a safe way?
This is why we at Husqvarna put great efforts to provide our customers with safety instructions. This is also the reason why all our dealers are trained to instruct you how to handle the equipment in a safe way.
